This young medic became the first member of the Royal Navy to be awarded the Military Cross.

Her story is an inspiration to others.
Medics under fire... Always seem to earn those medals... When all hell is going on around them, they make a difference...

I am reading Ken Burns' WAR (companion to the PBS series) and I was surprised to find out that WW2 US medics were paid $10 less per month then the infantry man because they didn't carry a gun and thus didn't fight!

That is old thinking for sure eh, these guys run into bullets while the soldier hides in a hole!
