Gentlemen,

Has anyone heard from Eric Bonner in the past couple of days?

Pat
I just heard from an hour ago, here's what the email said:

Quote:Hope you get this on time ? Sorry I didn't inform you about my trip in the United Kingdom for a program, I'm presently in Surrey and am having some difficulties here because i misplaced my wallet which my money and other valuable things where on my way to the hotel . Presently my passport and my things are been held down by the hotel management pending when i make payment. I will like you to assist me with a loan of (1,500 British Pounds) to sort-out my hotel bills and to get myself back home. I will appreciate whatever you can afford to assist me with, I'll Refund the money back to you as soon as i return, let me know if you can be of any help? ASAP.
I don't have a phone where i can be reached. please let me know immediately.
Hope to hear from you soon
That is what I was afraid of.

I got the same message.

I fear Eric's computer has been stolen.

Pat
Looks like we got a crisis on our hands.
I've notified a site moderator with the particulars.

I did get another short message after the initial one asking me to send what I could. I asked where to send the money hoping to obtain more information, but have not received a reply.

I don't have the expertise to look at the email information and determine whether this message is actually coming from England?
It has been suggested that Eric's "yahoo" email account has probably been hacked.

So, if you got one of his requests for money, just ignore it. I am sure that Eric will be up and running again in short order.

It is so frustrating to be attacked like this; like having someone break into your home.
I got one of these too this morning and it looked like a scam. I came on here to post if anyone else had seen it but you beat me to it.

I'll keep checking in case Eric really is in trouble, I'm in the UK anyway and if Eric really is in Surrey I could drive down and sort him out :)
I had a "genuine" e-mail from Eric just over 24 hours ago (I know it's genuine as it had a turn attached), looks like a hacker attack. If it was really Eric he wouldn't have just asked for cash but would have posted for assitance from UK members.
I played along with the email to see if I could get more information.
I've been playing Eric for several months and reread some of his emails. The language here just doesn't sound like him.
Besides, why would an American ask another American to send him British Pounds???? If the mailer was able to repay a loan as soon as they got back to the US, why not have that money transfered from their ban
king account in the US? Why not ask a UK member living close to Surrey if they could put him up for a couple of days until he received the money from the US and no mention of contacting the US Embassy?

Thank you so much for your concern towards my situation. Please i want you to help me and send the money through western union money transfer to the information below.

This sounds exactly like a scam I read about in the news a couple of weeks ago. It was almost the same message (stuck in England, wants money from America in £) but they used a hacked Facebook account.
