Your opinion in regard to a tournament with the following rule:

Tournament is set up in such a manner as to have competitors play a mirror game against the same individual.

The question being:

Given these parameters, does it make any difference how balanced the scenarios need to be within reason :chin:

In my opinion Pat, as the game is mirrored this balances any unbalanced scenarios and will focus the competitors on doing the best they can with what they've got.

I do think it could be important to ensure that NO units be allowed to exit the scenario as this could affect the result in the event a scenario is very unbalanced in respect that whoever exits the most units, thus denying valuable points to the aggressor, would have an advantage.
Having said that, there are some who would argue that gaining any advantage you can in "war" is fair game. (I'm arguing with myself!! :eek1: ) But I reckon that having to protect your trucks and carriers would be more fun than just getting them the hell out of there....

Smedley's tournament, where we play both turns at the same time, I now feel is the most fair way to play a mirrored tournament. I've played in some that seemed to lose something in the second game. If your opponent beat you, you find yourself wanting to duplicate his tactics. If he beats you the second time, you find yourself facing the sudden and uncomfortable realization that maybe you really suck.
I am inspired by Smedley's tournament set-up and rules and intend to mirror it (no pun) with a few tweaks of my own.

I also agree with Paul, but believe that the scenarios shouldn't greatly favor one side for no other reason than it being boring to play.
