I try to keep 70% of my games versus opponents with a better rating than myself because I enjoy the challenge and know that it helps me improve my pathetic game.

30% of my games are versus opponents with an equal rating or beginners (to whom I attempt to offer advise and play scenario's that favor the beginners side).

Occasionally the "beginner" might make some rule error such as occupying VP's with transports or blocking roads or visibility with same or perhaps continually exceeding the save limit, etc. These breaches of rules or ethics are almost always the result of not understanding the rules of the game and are quickly resolved.

I really don't care if a newbie starts his first or second or third turn and replays it, not because he has lost units, but because he thinks he has made mistakes in his first few moves and wishes to procede in a different direction. My reasoning being that, "A bad start usually will mean a bad game". How many of you wants to play a 20 move scenario knowing that they are going to lose after the 2nd move?

Some of you great Generals could beat me if I replayed my turn 10 times per move.

I will never be a top Blits player, but very much enjoy the fact that the great players will give me a game.

Pat, replays are covered within the club rules?
Occupying victory hexes or blocking with transports are "personal ROE's".
I've had to straighten out some beginner opponents in regards to personal ROE's. I point out their errors to them in detail and explain why.

I do not give beginners the "right to replay" any moves or a turn. You learn from making mistakes and not from making the "perfect moves"?
And, it is against club rules. :smoke:

With the new defensive strength of the transports I would doubly frown on them "holding" a victory hex or blocking roads, exit hexes, or retreat routes.

Most begginers will be told about ROE's right upfront and then I explain them along the way. And, on top of all else, I wll report a draw against the beginner to ease the pressure that may cause them to want to replay a turn or do something "funky" with transports.

But, that is just me? I don't care about the ELO rating. ;) :chin:Whip

Question to all veterans from a relative newbie: is exceeding the save limit a matter of "personal ROEs" or club rules? I'm playing a smallish scenario in which my opponent is saving a lot, and in this last turn saved 6 times. I have never seen that many saves.

I believe as a relatively new feature, the number of saves issue has not been included in the club rules, and probably won't be either. Not sure what they do over on the Steel Panthers ladder, since I think that SP has the same/similar feature.

So, assuming it is always going to be a personal ROE, it should be discussed as such. For me, I wouldn't be worried too much about the number of saves, unless it was combined with a lot of "lucky breaks". Some households have a lot more distractions or less stable computers that might require a lot of saves.

So as long as the game is enjoyable, I'd say keep playing and don't worry about. If you have some concerns, you can either mention it (can be risky) and hash out an ROE for future games or finish the current game and politely decline a rematch.

Here I agree with Mike.
Though, I look at a turn that can be completed in one sitting in a few minutes as not requiring more than two or three saves, due to distractions.

Saving and then replaying the turn from the point of save is covered but is also a "trust thing"? :smoke:

I will ask my opponent "why so many saves in such a small scenario?"
And, my eyebrow will go up if the "lucky shot" or the "escape from ambush" occurs at those times of the many saves. Those occasions have been extremely rare.

:stir::stir::stir:Ooooooh scooby doo in wolf's clothing Ed.Only joking mate.Small scenarios you might wonder ok large one's a different matter.Im playing two large one's now where it takes me over 2 hour's to get half the turn done.Who you play i suppose my opponents i trust completly no matter how many saves.There again i normally play the same poeple time to get into the wider world and get my butt kicked morecheers
LOL! John, I hate large scenarios unless they are teamers. So I won't have that problem. :smoke:
Though, I am playing a teamer with over 60 turns and I have not seen more than six saves during a turn. That includes passing back and forth between teammates! :chin:
