Okay folks, I"ve been making changes to my test monster and ran into this:

I've added a few units in the past (to the org) gone into the scn and placed them on the map with no problems. Now, I've added a few independent units to battalion level orgs and go into the scn and they are not available. The file names for the game are the same, but I added a "2" to the end of all files so as not to interrupt the ongoing tests. I am at a loss as to why these units will not show up.

LR
I don't know much about computers, but it seems to me if you added a "2" to the additional files, they are NOT the same and the .scn file wont pick them up.
I thought that as long as a .bte file was generated the scenario could not be altered. And, if you changed all the file names does the scen recognize the old or new org and map files? Did you click to see what org and map files are "attached" to the new scenario name?

RR
you can open the scn file in a text editor and change the line that points to the org filename, rename it and save it. as long as the file is in the same folder as the scn file it "should" load unless encrypting things has made this little back door unusable anymore.

*** edit I just checked it and unless you're literate with how encryption works.. you're SOL.. sorry
You can change the scenario file name, but can't change the org or map file name unless you know the encryption of the files, as Red Devil says.

Here's something to try at your own risk.

create a new scn file with the new filenames, but without any scenario data except the settings and description.

open your original scn file with notepad and copy everything below the 12th line, open the new scn file and paste everything into the new scn file below the 12th line, save and test.

good luck

cheers

I added a 2 to all three... and it's worked before.

The attached files are the correct ones.

Thanks for the attempted assist ;-)

CRAP... so, basically I'm screwed? Why was I able to add the units just a few days ago with no problem? Damn...

Thanks Devil, I'll try that out. Thanks to all of you guys, by the way.

No, you're not screwed, there are ways around it, but requires editing some files in a text editor.

Adding units to a scenario is no problem as long as the file names remain the same.

If you change the file names, then if you select highlight org, all your units will turn pink because they are now missing the supply chain found with the proper org file.

What Red Devil suggested should work. Save a copy though, just in case.

larry,
I love ya man...really like cats who can kiss their own asses...
I mean, for real...don't act surprised...just accept it as fact...
lol, I love you too Gub....

and I'm just being honest. I didn't expect it to be an edge of the seat kind of scenario, just good and fun. instead, I find myself playing every single day in a scenario that involves probably an hour for the turn at least.

Oh, and I tried Devil's suggestion and couldn't make it work. I found another work around though. So the work's not wasted.

Gub, you want to start up one of your Pacific scenarios we were playing again?
