I will leave for a two weeks vacation in a week and probably need one or two more books. Any recommendations? Any war, any period welcome.

Thanks in advance!
"Killing Rommel" by Steven Pressfield, his latest book. Even better is "Gates of Fire" by the same author.
deutsche überzetsung wäre vielleicht:

"Rommel zu töten bis er gestorben ist"

und

"Brennende Toren"

OK, just a joke.
Were cheap at Amazon and might be free postage, both by Tony Le Tissier, Marshall Zhukov at the Oder and The Battle of Berlin.
I would recommend Rubicon by Tom Holland, immensley readable and packed with information from everything from the Roman Slave Revolt to the two Ceasars and the end of the Roman Republic.
THE EVENT

it will keep you on the edge of your seat and eye to your optical gun sight
Sorry Gentlemen, have been very busy during the last weeks but would like to thank all of you for your recommendations! Nevertheless I have chosen none of the recommended books but stuck with one recommended in another thread - "The history of the Seven Years War in Germany" written by Johann Wilhelm von Archenholz. I was able to buy a copy printed in 1913, the oldest book I have so far and a very good read on this topic.
