From a long time CS player who might be interested in playing some WWI and II naval combat, What games do you blokes play?
Hi Rod.

The guys on this ladder play the strategic level treatments of the Pacific War called Uncommon Valor and War in the Pacific. Both games are long games depicting the whole war, and take a long time to finish.

Recently they have added the HPS Series of Naval Games as well, and those games cover tactical warfare from WW1 through WW2 depending on the title chosen. Those games can NOT be played via email, but are played online and a battle can usually be completed in 2-3 hours depending on scenario size.

There has been some discussion about bringing in new titles, maybe something from the age of sail, but at the current time the above are your current options (for naval play) in a nutshell.
War in the Pacific by Matrix games would IMO be the best one to purchase, OK it's due upgrading by the soon to be released Admirals Edition, visit the Matrix forums for info, screenies, AAR and links to mods etc.
The game plays by giving your land sea or air units orders for the next turn/day or several days as you can select 1, 2 or 3 day turns when you begin.
It ain't cheap but the campaign game will take several years or more to complete therefore it's great value for money.
You could pick up Uncommon Valour cheap at E-bay which would give you a taste for WitP but why waste the money, go for it.
I've stole some pics.
Should point out that these are from the upcoming Admirals Edition with enhanced art etc, as the basic WitP game is vanilla but I recommend installing the CHS mod to give the game a makeover.
Thank you.
