How do you report a game when the scenario you played is not in the pull down list? I am sure it is some easy procedure but I am totally clueless!

James
You can add them as necessary. Click on Scenario Database under G-4|Supply.

From there click on "add scenario info" to database" on the right side menu.

From there follow the drop down and fill in the blank formats. Everything you need to enter should be with the scenario info, so it's easiest to have the scenario open as you do this. The only thing that isn't provided with the game info is the scenario size modifier, which for ACW games can be determined here:

The only thing to be wary of is to make sure you click "add new scenario" when you're done. If you click modify old scenario you'll over write and existing one. If you do that just let us know, it's not irreversible, but we appreciate not having to fix it ;)

If you have any questions or concerns feel free to contact Thunder or myself for help, here or privately.

Thank you Steel God, your instructions were clear and precise. I added the scenario.

Bluto,

What HPS Civil War games do you recommend? I heard the Atlanta campaign game is considered a good first buy.
That is not an easy question to answer! I myself only have three of the HPS games, Atlanta, Chickamauga, and Gettysburg. I have not played any of them enough to really say which is better than the other. I imagine an interest in a particular campaign of the ACW would have as much to do with rating a particular game higher than the others. I myself am a fan of the battle of Chickamauga, so I am biased towards that particular game, all the more so as it includes the battle of Stone river, another favorite of mine. If we were all Bill Gates we could solve the problem by just buying everything! I have not done so, but I believe an analysis of the scenario data base would be useful to see which game holds the highest rated scenarios. Hope this helps and see you on the Great Redoubt!
I guess that the Alanta game is as good anything else... I do own the Matrix version of JT campaign. How does that stack up?
I actually prefer the Matrix reissue of John Tiller's original Battleground series for the ACW over the newer HPS Campaign series. While they are in many respects identical, and some good ideas were incorporated in the HPS games, I still rate the old Battleground games more enjoyable. However, to switch eras, I prefer the HPS Napoleonic Campaign games over the older Battleground games. I would say that the older BG Napoleonic games probably illustrate the formalism of the era better than the HPS versions, but as a gamer I prefer the greater flexibility of the HPS games. Hope this helps!
