Just started the PBEM STGD alt campaign as axis - looks great

However I always thought there was on small unit ( Co. ) of Tigers in Winter storm but cannot seem to see them . Are they in this game ??

Cannot see them with a quick look at the OOB either

Michael
Hi Michael,

I do not believe any Tigers were deployed on the southern front at this early of a date. The first deployment I have ever heard about was with the SS Pz Korps when they deployed into the Kharkov area. There are Tiger units in the OOB though, as part of the SS to the Rescue option - at least I am nearly positive they are there, Glenn used the same SS structure to include in the Stalingrad OOB as were historically present in the Kharkov fighting a few months later, I believe.

From what I've read about this period I'd say there were no Tigers either, but it would have been interesting to include a batallion as a korps asset in winter storm and see if that could have any effect on the liberaton of the pocket.

Best for new year ;)

I recall in the old AH Stalingrad PC game there was a Tiger Unit. No idea if that was accurate or not.
Heeresgruppe Don seems to have had a single company (2. Company of the 502 Schwere Panzerabteilung)

Oktober-November 1942:2./ in Paderborn aus Teilen der Panzer-Regimenter 1 und 35 aufgestellt.

21.-28. Dezember 1942: 9 Tiger erreichen die 2./

29. Dezember 1942: 2./ verlegt nach Osten zur Hgr. Don.

The above company seems to have been OPCONNED to the 503 Schwere Panzerabteilung (with 2 companies) also in theater. Probably in order to bring the 503 up to full strenght (3 mixed Panzer IIIN/Tiger I companies):

So no Tigers for "Wintergewitter" (which ended in failure on the 23rd December 42) but definetely thereafter.
