Full Version: PBEM Issue: XP to Vista?

As some of you know, I had a virus on my old desktop. After reinstall, SPWW2 performed poorly, but it was no big deal because I've demoted that unit to print server and purchased a new laptop.

Said laptop finally arrived. SPWW2 performs fine, only when I transport over PBEM saved games they refuse to load.

The old unit was XP; this one is Vista.

Anyone familiar with this issue and how to salvage the ongoing games? They're mostly the tail end of tourney games, so it's sort of important.

I'm pretty sure if games where started with full security on the old machine your pretty much toast, they are not going to load....just curious do you experience choppy game play when playing in full screen mode with the new machine?
I also had this problem when has bought laptop with Vista.

I have started search in windows.
Searched for files " SpEml001.
Has found.
Has then made a label for this place where Vista stores Save.
Also did not begin to understand what here business.

Still a surprise.
I can not find in folder Map drawn by me maps in Editor WinSP.
Probably I shall start again search windows to find where files edited map are stored.

As the alternative, setup game not in a folder " Program file ", and is better on other disk.

I think there are answers to these questions at forum Shrapnel games. Saw there thread about Vista.
Hi Seabolt.

Tried it several times, even a transfer from XP to XP didn´t work
under full security mode.

Cheers, Klaus

Actually, I experience very choppy game play on the old XP machine now that I've fully reformatted the hard drive and rebuilt it for the first time in >5 years. Either an XP update that eluded the old sprawling patchwork of an OS has crippled the game or I've forgotten some esoteric video tweak that was essential to performance.

The Vista machine has intermittent color issues as described by many others in full screen mode, plus the map is stretched to fit my widescreen aspect ratio. Looks horrible. But the windowed mode looks and works fine.

Thank you, Epoletov. You are still the godfather. ;) That was the fix. Vista stores the save files in a different location. Got it.

I have the full security game up now in Vista. And I think Narwan once relocated one of our full security games without creating a "break" for himself, but I may be misremembering that one.
