Can anyone tell me how to unroll the security on Vista so pbem .btefiles can be loaded and allowed by Vista.
I had a report come up that said the file maybe blocked as it came from another computer.
I downloaded the file from my PC, loaded it to my memory stick and transferred it to my Vista laptop, think that's where the problem lays regarding not being able to play pbem but standard games against the a1 play ok?
regards
Peter
Unblock the file by right-clicking on it, and on the General tab – clicking the Unblock button, and then on the Ok button
Thanks Scud!
Done that and now I'm getting 'error reading scenario file' ????
Hi Peter,

Too vague. Are you using 1.04? Is the bte from an old Talonsoft version? If the bte is from 1.04 and you're using 1.04, can you open any .bte's sent to the vista computer (not brought over from a stick)? Have you tried right clicking the bte and "open with..." then browsing to the matrix exe?

If you can open other bte's, but just not this one, try zipping the file on the other PC and bringing it over that way. Also, try renaming the extension .txt and see if it will open in notepad/wordpad. Resave as a .bte.
One more thing, the bte is in the same directory as the game, right? As I recall, it won't work if it isn't, but I don't know what kind of error you'd get. I could also be wrong about that.

Also, just found this: http://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp...e&#1835518

which is making me believe more and more that your install/patching is suspect. Might want to completely uninstall the game and start over. No fun, I know, but it's sometimes easier than going through all the troubleshooting.
