The fortress is a mid-1800s installation guarding a major river crossing. There are two variants; in version 'A', housing and undergrowth have been permitted to encroach on the glacis. After all, this is an old outdated defensive work which could never withstand an enemy with modern weapons for a moment, so why bother? In version 'B' the field of fire around the fort has been cleared except where the town prohibits. This is entirely due to the fact that the commander distrusts the fascists utterly, and nothing to do with the gifts of butter, milk, and meat sent to him by the collective farm whose cattle graze on the cleared area. :)

looks nice - what do you recommend for this - axis assault? attack? probe? I'd guess a minimum 3000 point assault with the number of flags there are and all the heavy buildings.
I personally would use it for an attack or assault of 2000 points or more. (Actually, I'd go straight to 5000 points. I like big battles, but that's just me.) Some fortifications are necessary if you wish to represent the fighting positions of an old fort. My theory would be that in battles smaller than 2000 points the attacker would have an increasingly good chance to outmaneuver the defender because the defender would not have enkough troops to cover all the frontage.
