A beginner with lots of time on his hands looking for one or more opponents for the long campaign game. Will play either side standard or volcano mode.

I would recommend a short scenario to help you get out of boot camp before tackling a large campaign game.

Gentleman:

I truly appreciate the comments. But one of the pleasant surprises I've had upon embarking on play by Mail games is the willingness if not downright enthusiasm many players have for helping a new guy get started. Yes a campaign game is a huge undertaking. The comment I make to the opponents who offer me a game is that I fully understand it's not going anywhere is near that for. What I'm after is something that requires long-term planning, the realization that there is a tomorrow and lots of room for error.

I like winning as much as anybody else does but I enjoy just playing probably more than most. I'm semi retired with a huge amount of time on my hands and a strong interest in the subject. I'm not totally clueless I'm just not up to date having spent a good part of the 70s and a little bit of the 80s playing old Avalon Hill games by Mail ( the old form of mail that required a stamp ).

So I appreciate your concern and I think those who have offered a game. I have four opponents now two Allied two German that should be a substantial learning experience. So I cannot accept any more offers.

That is good news and i am glad you have found other players so helpful. :)

At the moment you are in bootcamp and will remain there until you report a game, as the campaign you have taken on will i assume take a long time to play you will remain inactive for that time.

You will need to let Dog Soldier aware that you wish to remain inactive in bootcamp otherwise your account will be deleted, that is the advantage of starting with a small scenario it gets you moved onto the main ladder and then you have a year to report another game ;)
Iley,
I'll be very pleased to meet you on the Normandy Battlefield.
I'm ready for the long run (750 turns), I don't know what is the Volcano option, so if you may help me (I'm also a recruit), I can answer your question about the playing mode.

Simone,
Welcome to the Blitz, we will try to help you out to get started. ;)

The "Volcano option" that you refer to are scenarios created by one of our Blitz members Volcano Man, he has created versions of (almost) all the HPS scenarios which can be identified by the tag _Alt on the end of the scenario file, his scenario packs also contain excellent art packs to enhance the existing HPS artwork.

If you wish to download his _ALT scenario/Artpacks here is the link to his site...VMods site

Hope that helps.......:)

Thank you very much Foul,
I joined the VolcanoMods and I found the new scenarios.
Anyway I'd prefer to play the original Normandy '44 Big-Scenario this time.
