In the Charkov Grand Campaign played as PBEM, do you want the QFM for play balance or should that rule be left out?

Consider that all other realism rules are on:

Artillery Set Up
Recon Spotting
Virtual Supply Trucks
Low Vilibility Air Effects
Counterbattery Fire
Night Fatigue
Programmed Weather
Limited Air Recon

Should the QFM rule be used or not, to make it a balanced game? Disregarding historical accuracy for play balance. QFM could help balance it out if the Soviet forces are very strong (numerous), but I don't know if it's motivated in this campaign as I've not researched it much or looked at it in the game.
If you are playing the standard campaign game with the rules you list, or even just strictly the default rules across the board, then don't use QFM. The game already favors the Axis by some amount (just look at the results here at the Blitz), and adding in QFM will make the German forces nearly unbeatable, I think.

Okay, since no more replies have been written I'll conclude your answer as the general consensus on the matter. Thanks for your reply. A friend not active on these boards wanted to play the Charkov '42 Campaign, we shall leave QFM off for this game.
When selecting scenario, there are two full campaigns, namely:

#02-Campaign-Full.scn - Saunders\Blackie & Wig Graves
#02-Campaign-Full_Alt.scn - Saunders, Blackie & Wig Graves (edited: Williams)

The alternative scenario is not listed in the database. Which optional rules should this alt scen be played with? I know Volcano Man's alt scenarios come with a recommendation to play with 'Alternative Assault Resolution' on, but this is not Volcano Man's mod is it?

Yes, the second scenario that you have listed is an Alt scenario that I have edited. For the optional rules to use see here:

(there is link for Panzer Campaigns_Alt optional rules to use)

Thanks, looking at your optional rule box there you have QFM on, are you suggesting it should be on for all your alt scenarios???

Edit: To clarify, I can see how the 'Alternative Assault Resolution' rule together with QFM could be more realistic, if the hard attack values of infantry were correctly modeled. Is this what you had in mind for all your alt scenarios or is the 'Alternative Assault Resolution' to be on regardless of QFM?

Sorry if I'm asking a lot of questions I just want to be absolutely clear about this. It's better to spend a little time to set a up a campaign correct from start than to find out 1/4 way through that one side is favored because of the optional rules.
It is intended that all the checked optional rules be used. The Alt Assault Resolution optional rule is highlighted because, as it says, it is absolutely necessary. The other ones, although highly suggested, can be disabled if the user so desires.
Volcano I am curious how the use of QFM in this scenario would make the game more balanced? In my limited experinece with the the stock version I would think QFM would make it near impossible for a Soviet victory. What have you done with your mod to redress the balance of the scenario with QFM recommended? I am interested as I like to play balanced games. I know you use a different DB for unit values. But I don't know if that would swing the pendulum enough or even in the right direction. :chin:
I'd like to find that out as well.

Quick suggestion, not knowing how much testing VM has done with this specific title and his values. Go ahead and play a few turns, against the AI if you would like, and develop a feel and make a recommendation. That is what I try to do, and if the results are way out there figure out what can help get the results in line. Might take a bit of playing but that is the only way to really know.
