World War II Days Smaller Text

Experience the World War II Era
Saturday 11:00 am to 5:00 pm
Sunday 11:00 am to 4:00 pm

World War II Days includes elaborate and realistic battles complete with tanks, artillery, armored vehicles, and exciting pyrotechnic displays. Saturday the battle shows are featured at 1:30 pm and 3:30 pm. Sunday the battle time is 2:30 pm. Maps of the event site will be available when visitors arrive showcasing the battlefield and the various encampments and various attractions.


Visitors will also experience:

. Elaborate displays with the majority of historical buildings on the museum property
acting as the back drop of a European village during World War II
. Wood encampments and realistic skirmishes integrated in the historic village
. German cavalry scenes
. Soldiers' base camps filled with period vehicles, tents and artifacts
. Watch D-Day Remembered: An Academy Award nominated documentary at 11:30 am
each day
. Shop for World War II memorabilia from numerous vendors
. Purchase quality food and snacks from Burritt's Meat Products of Rockford
. Take a shuttle to Wings and Wheels Musuem in Poplar Grove
. Special Senior Rest Area Hospitality tents


Guests can choose to dance the night away with the sounds and lyrics of the 1940s at a dance from 7 pm to 11 pm Saturday, September 27, at the museum. This 1940s dance is free and open to the public. Individuals are encouraged to dress in period clothing from the 1940s. Those in attendance learn dances made popular in the era and have the opportunity to dance with the re-enactors.

including a special program in the Members' Lounge presented by Alan Brown entitled "Dirty Little Secrets of WWII," with reception following and opportunities to win fun prizes for members. As a reminder, bring your Midway Village Museum Membership Card with you to World War II Days.
