I've just finished reading "A Soldier's War in Chechnya" on holiday . Would highly recommend this book to anyone. Gruesome but beautifully written. The anarchy of the Russian army is truly shocking.

I was wondering if anyone had any good recommendations for further reading on this conflict? It seems like this war (mostly ended) has gone very under reported in the west.

Hi Adam

The Russian Government learned a valuable lesson from the American Military during the first Gulf War. That being keeping the media in groups and showing them only what you want them to see. In the first war in Chechnya this wasn't so from both sides. But the second time around the Arab fighters helping out the Chechens started killing western reporters and the Russian Military keeping the press away from the front line caused alot of people to forget what was going on in that part of the world
