0510_91: The Invasion of France and Belgium (w/German Strategy)
France, 10th May 1940: On this date, the German Army launched a massive attack on France, Belgium, and Holland. The attack was aided by massive aerial bombardments and supported by small, but highly effective, paratroop landings. Next morning, the Allies began to execute their own pre-planned war maneuvers. On the coast, the French 7e Armée began a dash to Holland. On their right flank, the British Expeditionary Force, along with the French 1ère Armée on its right, advanced to a small river - the Dyle River - in central Belgium. However, the Germans were not coming through central Belgium, at least not with the bulk of their forces. They were coming through the Ardennes, where they broke out over the Meuse River five days later, pinning the most mobile elements of the French Army and the BEF to the coast, leaving the French with virtually no reserves to stave off the disaster. This scenario has been altered by the addition of a German strategic choice, allowing 2 Pz and 2 Mot divisions to be deployed in their historical position in the Ardennes, or further north near Maastricht.

*Scenario should be played with default optional rules*

Large Scenario 180 turns, Designer(s) Mod David G and Ricky B

*Scenario files located in post 2 of this thread*

Any comments you would like to leave about this scenario can be posted in this thread.
I was looking at my files today and I saw that some of them did have a few changes... So I recommend to update the alt game with them.

*Note from Dog Soldier., the new files have been added to the sceanrio DB entry for this scenario. Click on the link below and choose the Download link directly below the scenario description.

If you use the files without the art it won't look good.
I have reconditioned the file and added the graphical files.

The-Invasion-of-France-and-Belgium-w Strategy Options
After a long test team game of this scenario, (Dog Soldier & RickyB as Allies versus sja_ski & Beerweasel as Axis) I can say this is an excellent version of the invasion of France. The strategy options allow for both sides to change the original dispositions thus making opening moves less certain of what to do.

All the issues that came up during our play test seem addressed except these two below.
  1. The Doz17 squadrons appear too powerful. The values are 7/16/8 in the stock game. Are these the correct values? [Image: Do17zvalues.jpg]
  2. Is there a withdrawl command for the FJ that attack Eben Emael? One was missing in the original version.

In the campaign with the strategy options no fix,Its all good but what about the allied infantry. The Belgians and French are 12 while the British are 10 , what gives? I do not know much about 1940 but the BEF performed better than either of these two for sure ... is it a mistake . Its not a stock scn and I cannot find any readme file talking about any changes ?

Thanks David, I didn't see this post before, thought the other post already covered it. Hope you are doing well.

Just seeing your post today Big Grin sorry

I will have a look at the oob for the Dornier... I know I didn't change anything from the stock scenario for the German Army, I wonder if it has been changed from the original game to the last update.

I checked my stock campaign game scenarios today in v1.05 of the game and there were no changes to the Do17z values of 7/16/8. It must be some mistake in the mod. These little things happen with so much detail to manage.
The mod David and Rick worked on here is first rate.

Dog Soldier
I have looked at the last oob I have (the second file to donwload) and the Do17 values are correct.
Hmm, I dug through all my files and I found one version, of about 5, of the campaign with strategies scenario that used an OOB with the higher Do17z strengths in it. The current download from the Blitz, above in this thread, does not use this OOB, the version it uses has the correct, lower, attack values. So depending on where you got the screenshot of the higher values, Brian, it is wrong in that version but is fine now.

Thanks Brian,
Rick
