I will be swanning around Europe in your autumn, and there might be a few opportunities to make personal contact... My plan* is as follows
Flying in/out of Frankfurt
30-31 Aug....Lubeck
2-3 Sept..... Gdansk
4-5 Sept......Torun
6-8 Sept......Krakow
9 Sept.........Zamosc
10-12 Sept...Przemysl
15-16 Sept...Banska Stiavnica (Slovak Rep)
17-18 Sept...Telc (CZ Rep)
19-21 Sept...Prague
24-26 Sept...Berlin (Potsdam)
28-30 Sept...Rothenburg a d Tauber
1-2 Oct........Fussen
4 Oct ..........Metz
5-7 Oct........Verdun
8-10 Oct......nr Albert
11-13 Oct.....Poperinghe
14-16 Oct.....Bayeux
Then a couple of days to get back to Frankfurt. Dates not mentioned I am flexible...will look for a road hotel/motel...or anticipate being ready for bed early after a busy day. Anyone local who might want to meet up with an old curmudgeon, drop an email. Maybe an evening meal and a couple of jars. I speak excellent English, some French, and Indonesian/Malay (not likely to be much use). Doing this very much on a budget......staying at Youth Hostels, B&B, budget hotels, (sounds better than "cheap") and in Torun an old fort. Aim is to gawp at battlefields and the like, old ruins (one gets sick of seeing them in the mirror), and pay some overdue distant family respect to the Fallen.
