This mod will not effect any OOB files, and can be installed mid-game with no PBEM or security problems.

Cross Sounds 0.7 replaces 70% or 107 of the original 152 sounds.

EDIT: Cross Sounds 1.0 was released NOV 2008

Cross sounds changes many of the original sounds, with the goal of improving their realism and quality.

0.7 improves on some of the 0.6 sounds, but 0.7 also adds some new sounds that weren’t updated in 0.6. Examples:
• New helicopter sound
• New jet aircraft sound
• New smoke grenade/mortar sound
Although 0.5 updated all the rifle sounds, most of the rifles have been reworked again in 0.7.

SPMBT

MBT gives you the option to use wav or MP3. I believe wav is the default.
If you use wav then you can also install this mod to your MBT sounds folder, because MBT uses the same SPWW2 sound map.

If you want the full 22MB rar (41MB when unzipped) file install:

Cross Sounds 0.7

If you already have Cross Sounds 0.6, you only have to download the 7MB rar (13MB when unzipped) file update:

Cross Sounds update to 0.7 from 0.6

Both downloads include an excel sound guide for SPWW2. The sound guide identifies most of the sounds, and shows which ones have been replaced in 0.7.

Installation
1. Create a backup of your original 'Sounds' folder.
2. Unzip and copy or move the wav files into the 'Sounds' folder and Replace All.

Please be aware that SPWW2 has some sound limitations and issues:
Many weapons often draw on a single sound. For example the sound for the Vickers HMG is also used by some Bren or even German units.

Some weapons draw on multiple sounds. For example rifles from the same unit may sound like bolt action one volley and them semi-autos the next.

All wheeled vehicles (except motorcycles) share a single sound; and even ships use the wheeled vehicle sound (not joking).
I decided to replace the current wheeled vehicle with a decent road vehicle sound, as use of ships is limited.

All aircraft (except gliders, spotter planes, jets and helicopters) draw on the same sound. Bombers use it again and again making the sound run over itself.

Although it's relatively easy to replace sounds with better sounds, it won't resolve the above issues.

Please post any feedback, issues or suggestions here.
Excellent stuff......i'm downloading now.
Good sound pack. I like it, although the remaining standard sounds not always fit the new sounds.

Also, some of the aircraft rockets firing (FFARs) are very loud in comparison tot he rest. You might want to check loudness levels across the sounds for the next update. ;)

Hi Pndrev,

Thanks for the feedback.

The rocket sound plays about right on my PC. Its about the same level as the original, and I just tested it in-game and it seemed fine.

When you say "some of the aircraft rockets", does this mean it was ok for most aircraft but not not others? Which unit/weapon was too loud?

Thanks again, and glad you like it.

cheers,
It could be that the original rocket sound is 'too loud' as well. I'll try a couple of game over the weekend and give you feedback.

I especially like the fact that it doesn't mess up PBEM games. I installed the mod and tested it in MBT 4.0 single player. The next day I went on to play WW2 PBEM, having completely forgotten about the mod. The first shots fired - woah! That does sound nice! :)
