I was trying to get some info/screen shots of Combat Mission, HPS Op Campaign and Steel Panthers to see if I might be interested in playing them.

No luck!

Are any of these games similar to the Matrix CS?

Is there any war game similar to CS? I'm not interested in any game where you move around a bunch of checkers with symbols on them.

Thank you,

Just go to the AAR section and read some AAR's that will show the graphics and how the games play.
No luck finding screenshots, eh? Were you looking in the local newspaper? ;)

Steel Panthers has similarities and is a good game. Easy to check out since they all are free downloads.

SPWAW (and HTH mod)

The closest is probably Steel Panthers out of that lot, but nothing is directly comparable because CS is platoon strength and of those you mention CM and SP are squad level and HPS is company/battalion.

I also recommend you check out Squad Battles....there's a link to an AAR. It's squad based, buthas some similarities to CS in the way elements slowly degrade rather than get killed all at once. It's basically only playable in 2D though because the 3D view is just awful. I quite like it regardless.

Like Bootie says, check out the AAR sections. There are thousands of CM screenshots in the AAR subsection of the CM forum.

Incidentally, although CM may seen like eye candy at first (compared to CS anyway), it's actually one of the deeper tactical games out there in terms of real life tactics producing real life results. At first try it seems like luck is too powerful...not true at all.
The basic unit in CS is a platoon; Squad Battles is a squad-level series by the same designer while PzC (the OPS forum on the Blitz) is a company-battalion level series by the same designer. The UI for all three series has a similar look and feel.
