Full Version: Destroying helos and airmobile

I have noticed in many games of Modern Campaigns that helos/airmobile in T mode seem basically indestructible except to direct fire losses. Let me illustrate:

Situation: disrupted, isolated enemy helo unit surrounded by two layers of friendly ground units (so the enemy helo can't get away). The ground units launch an assault.

Now, in nearly every case in the game, a surrounded disrupted enemy unit faced with a decent sized attack will take losses, and especially high losses if they cannot retreat.

But I have noticed said disrupted surrounded enemy helo units will resist even half a division of motorized infantry assaulting them. There will simply be no result to the assault.

Is the only way to affect them to plink away with AAA until they finally wither or chase them away hex by hex like a blob of mercury you can squeeze but not squish?
Don't bother assaulting them, just shoot them.

In the latest update of the D'85 Helos take horrific damage due to small-arms and AA fire.

Helos are now very vulnerable to AA attacks, defense 4-6, in NGP85 they've 10-16.

John Tiller just returned from a brief holiday and he has built me an NGP patch now which will encorporate al the changes to the engine done with Danube Front. It also uses the same OOB values which were revised for units such as the Helicopter Def values.

So, if the issue "Destroying helos and Airmobile" is from units in NGP, we should have that addressed as soon as the Patch clears a quality control test.
