I wasnt going to do a DAR on these matches, but Leto sent me some emails that I find amusing, so I have to post something. Check out Leto's post for the details about what we are doing.

Turn 7 Action - Russians
email from Beadleto:
That was, without a doubt, one of the most INTERESTING turns I have ever seen.

We can start negotiating terms now if you’d like.

I got that email before I saw the turn 7 movie, and had no idea what he was talking about. I watched the movie and still had no idea. In fact, it is now two turns later, and I can still only guess.

Leto had said in a previous email that he had already lost two more panzers to immobilizations - implying they were tigers, so I thought maybe he was wanting to surrender.

Anyway, here is an overview of my troops starting turn 7
[Image: Riverrussian6.jpg]

Started with a company of pioneers, and I left all of them in the city - safe from rockets. I purchased a SMG company and a guards company. I sent an entire company to my right to take the big flag on the right. I sent two platoons down the center and two down the left in support. I also took a Vet T34/85 platoon and 1 t34/76 flamer.

Middle of turn 7 - the last of the german rockets

I lose a t34/85, another is gun damaged. I also lose an opened top light tank. A rocket lands right on top of three squads, but only minor casualties.

Also, notice a lone panther moves down the road (top right of pic) and seems to be just hoping to get picked off.

So I sent Pete a msg saying he could surrender now and I would only take a minor victory. Honestly, I thought he might accept if he had lost two panthers, and had another about to get sniped by light tanks.
Turn 8 Orders - Russians
email from Beadleto:
Yah. Sure.

So do you think you can manage to drop rockets on yourself in the German one too?

Now, Pete's previous email about surrendering makes a little more sense, if he actually does think I dropped my rockets on myself. I suppose it is possible that Pete didnt realize that the German rockets dont all get fired in 1 turn. But even that seems unlikely.

Anyway, I order 4 light tanks to converge on the lone Panther and hope to finish him off. I consider sending my t34 flamer on a flanking move as well, but decide against it.

Turn 8 Action - Russians

Well it is a good thing I didnt send my flamer on a flanking run. Turn 8 starts and almost immediately I spot three more panthers hiding behind some trees on my side of the map. I almost walk a sniper right on top of them.

I get a few penetrations on the panther, but the turn ends with it still showing as alive. One of my stuarts took an 88 shell from a nashorn, but lived (quite amazing) - although it is gun damaged.
Turn 9 Orders - Russians
Seeing how Pete has at least 1000 points in big Tanks, I decide it is time to press with my infantry. 4 big cats will be hard to kill with 1 remaining T34/85 and a T34/76, but that means he doesnt have many infantry, so I think I am ok. To win I need to take three big flags, and I think I can do that.

I order my rockets to fall, thinking that any inf/heavy weapons on the start line have gotten close enought to kill. And his nashorn is between some trees in the radious of the rockets, so I cant resist the chance to kill that. Also, I dont want to move my inf out of the factory until the rockets fall, and I need to start getting the flags, so now is as good as time as any I suppose.

I also order my T34 flamer to charge towards the 3-pack of panthers. I hope I can get close enough to flame them, but still be just out of LOS (because of scattered trees). I thinking now that it was a bad idea.
