I'm playing DF'85. Engineers and bridging operations are a very important part of this game. The manual states that when engineers engaged in bridging operations are assaulted they defend at half value. This is as it should be, IMHO.

But I don't see anything that addresses their vulnerability to air attacks when they're building or dismantling a bridge. Is a bombing attack considered an "assault" for calculating defensive values? Otherwise it appears that engineers engaged in bridge operations defend themselves against air attack as if they were a normally deployed unit. This is not as it should be. Shouldn't they defend as if they were in T mode, or have some other penalty applied if they're out in the open building, maintaining or dismantling a bridge when a surprise air attack comes in? :chin:

Or is this already discussed in the manual and I just can't find it? Wouldn't be the first time.
