Guys,

Looking at the big full Germany Scenario in D85. I am trying to find a number of units (eg. 307th Rocket Bde) to understand their intial area of operation. The "Find Units..." command works fine for units on the map, but for units which arrive as reinforcement, is there an easy way to find time/date/place of arrival? Or do I have to walk through the whole list looking for each one? (And this is a big list) If there is a way to do this outside of the editor, I would be happy to hear that too.

Thanks,
Fury
Hey Fury,

You can download and use the editor I created - here at the Blitz or on Glenn's site, which includes a searchable reinforcement list, including all the info you want, then look at the map to figure out where it is spatially. Don't try to edit any scenarios with it, but it works well for searching for specific units, at any level of the OOB.

Rick
Well Fury - here is a way that will work although it is not pretty.

First off, you know about the 307th from somewhere - so I assume you have the game OOB Editor opened. If not - open it and file the formation in question.

You will see it has 3 sub units in it and you need to evaluate each unit individually. So, select the first unit in this formation - the "1st Rocket Launcher Bn" - now, right click and pick edit.

In this dialog you will see a field that you can edit - it is called ID and it is on the right side of the Org/Unit Dialog. The ID of this unit is 88877

Open the Scn in question in NOTEPAD and search for 88877.

I find this on a line with the following:
1 157 272 88877 2 2 18 0 0 0 0
...in Scn #850610_02s which tells me the unit is ON THE Map at the start of the game and in hex 157,272

The second unit in this formation - the "2nd Rocket Launcher Bn" is UNit ID 88878 and is found in 161 303 at start
and the "3rd Rocket Launcher Bn", unit ID 88879 is located in hex 224,330.

The problem here that you are having with the FIND is that the three units are placed on the map at start in there very different places. Soeven at 2D Zoom out, the game can't bring you to one map view to see all the units and when it tries to brng you to the best possible place to see them you see none because the game doesn't really understand your screen resolution.

That is I see no units on the map highlighted on my PC but on my daughters laptop which has 1200x 1600 dot, I might see one or more of the formation.

But the find does WORK and if you open scn 850610s and search for the "307th" then open the Jump Map, you will see a circle that shows the area where the three sub units of the 307th are located.

Anyway Fury - I read these ID numbers myself when I am building and working with these large scns.

Glenn
Guys,

Thanks for the info and am finding the units now. Rick nice work on the editor!

Your original question dealt with reinformcements and the example you picked was on the map.

Try searching for "25. (Sep) MotSchBtl," with the FIND and then click on the units and it says the unit is NOT on the map. So the unit in question is either NOT USED or in reinforcements. Whereas when you used FIND and tried the "307th" the serach did return one entry in the dialog. This unit was ON the Map.

When you find the Unit in the OOB, right click and Edit - you see the unit ID is 89570

Open the Scn in Notepad and search for 89570 and you will find this entry

2 1985 6 10 6 99 0 0 4 308 96 1
89570 1 1 525 0 0 256 0

**NOTE this is a two line entry as the line with 8950 is indented. But the part
at the top of the first line is:

2 1985 6 10 6

2 = reinforcements (1 = ON MAP)
1985 = year
6 = Month
10 = Day
and 6 = 0600 turn

It is all about the ID numbers and if they are in Line 1's or line 2's

Anyway - to continue with the Reinforcement example -
