HPS Simulations et John Tiller present
Mexican - American War
& Texas Independence War

(with the Battle of ALAMO)

Introduction and Overview
March across the plains of southern Texas with the 4th US Infantry which included in its ranks the young Lieutenant Sam Grant. Accompany the elite US Engineers, its members including Lee, Beauregard, McClellan, Joe Johnston and other soon-to-be-famous officers, as they examined the Mexican dispositions for an opening which would lead to victory.
Mexican-American War is a tactical level simulation of this conflict using the Early American Wars engine.

Mexico in 1846 had a standing army of about 35,000 men, while the Regular Army of the United States could mustered only about 7,000 soldiers, with most of them scattered across the western borders of the country, protecting settlers and battling Indians.

You have an opportunity with this game to rewrite the history of a forgotten war, fought in 1846 and 1847 between the United States of America and the nation of Mexico.
You will also do battle in a conflict only slightly better known - the Texas War of Independence, fought in 1835-36.

Features and Scenarios:
Mexican-American War has:
72 stand alone scenarios and 5 campaigns to choose from.
A wide sampling of actions from small to huge engagements.
14 unique maps ranging in size from 2600 hexes to 113,000 hexes providing ample ground for scenario designers to create their own actions.
An abundance of engine changes and enhancements that have been long-awaited for the EAW series.

Looks like the game uses the Civil War/Napoleonic game engine.
Flipin' sweet!

Nice to see HPS branching out a bit.

Nope I belive it uses the EAW engine for this title.:)
Very interesting subject matter for a wargame. There is actually a pretty good bit of info avail on these time periods and the fighting involved.

I am sure I'll get this one as my entire family is from Texas. In fact, my Great-great-great-great Grandfather...Manaen Turnbull Smith and his brother Archibald were members of a regiment of the "Texians" and left the service in either December of 1835 or January of 1836....just prior to the fighting at the Alamo and after. I have a really good genealogical record of my family from that period and I need to look again because I am sure it mentions the actual unit they served with.
FYI, yesterday was the 172nd anniversary of the fall of the Alamo.:(

Native Texan!
What is the EAW series? Could it be Early American Wars? And, does this mean that we will see the War of 1812?

Found an answer to my own question.

HPS Simulations and John Tiller are proud to announce the release of The Age of Rifles and Muskets: Early American Wars

THE FRENCH AND INDIAN WAR

The First "World" War

The French and Indian War was the North American part of a much larger war raging in the mid-Eighteenth Century called the Seven Years War. The Empires of Britain and France were struggling for control of multiple areas around the world. In North America, that struggle raged for 5 years in actions ranging from isolated skirmishes to full scale invasions.
Quebec would be the primary prize for the armies and its fall would mean the almost guaranteed defeat of New France.

Last Great Franco-English Conflicts

This simulation allows you to play either side, with over 180 scenarios covering 29 different battles which occurred from locations as diverse as Fort Necessity, Pennsylvania to Quebec, Canada.

Scenarios

In addition to the ability to play tactical scenarios, players can choose to play an extended campaign game. A scenario editor is also included with the game.

Features

- "On-map Combat Results" option allows you to speed up play significantly, for both your turn and the AI turn.

- Play modes include:
* AI (against the computer),
* Play-By-E-Mail,
* Two-Player Hotseat (single computer),
* and Network Play (both two player and multiplayer using teams).
Cpt Cav, regarding the War of 1812, specifically, that game has already been done and is available, using the EAW engine.

Rick
Thanks. Just noticed that. I guess I need to look at the HPS site more to see what is being offered other than PzC and MC.
