I've created a sound mod for winSPww2, and for reference sake I'll call it Cross Sounds 0.5

Please be aware that SPww2 has some sound limitations and issues:

Many weapons often draw on a single sound. For example, the Vickers HMG sound is also used by some Bren or even German units.

Some weapons draw on multiple sounds. For example, rifles from the same unit may sound like bolt action one volley and then semi-autos the next.

All wheeled vehicles (except motorcycles) share a single sound; and even all ships use the wheeled vehicle sound (not joking).
I decided to replace the current wheeled vehicle with a decent road vehicle sound, as use of ships is more limited.

All aircraft (except gliders and helicopters) draw on the same sound. Bombers use it again and again making the sound run over itself.

So although it's relatively easy to replace sounds with better sounds, it won't resolve any of the above issues.

Cross Sounds 0.5 replaces 50% or 77 of the original 152 sounds.
I tried to replace the sounds I more commonly come across.
A couple of sounds are still the same but with improved quality.

No official sound map exists for SPww2, but within the download I've included an Excel sound guide that maps the sounds and shows which sounds I replaced.

If you want the mod, the download is a 25MB zip file and is found here: http://www.savefile.com/files/1342109

EDIT: Cross Sounds 1.0 was released NOV 2008

Some people may be interested in only the sound map for SPww2; so I will attach it to this post.
