hwdo you use them are they of any use anyway?
They are used as per any normal AT gun or weapon, just aim and shoot. They are incredibly effective (a bit too effective?) in the early years against light armour.

If they wouldn't be effective, they shouldn't be used by soldiers :)
Historically they were used by Russians through the war, successfully even against Tigers by shooting through the vision slots, mediums were penetrated by shooting dozens of shots at a single spot.

Game wise you can immobilize any tank with AT rifle, take plenty of side shots and at some point you'll snap the track or break a wheel. Also they can destroy mgs, radios, toolboxes etc. .... not sure how SPWW2 works but WaW and H2H has these possibilities. AT rifle also has HE which is quite effective against infantry, it's like a 14,5mm sniper rifle.

Only in H2H. In DVRN, for example, PTRD team can't shoot by a PTRD to infantry, because it has HE ammo. Weird, eh? Don't know how it's going in SPWW2 and "clean" SPWaW.

IF you read Otto Carius's book TIGERS IN THE MUD he talks exactly of this; the Russians would try to shoot out the vision blocks. TITM is a very revealing book on the Tiger Tank. He loved it, but it had a lot of problems. He really hated the Hunting Tiger, it vibrated so much when traveling that the gun would always lose it's bore sight so you never knew where the round would hit. Plus the transmission and engine were so weak that he lost two of them within 5kms of the start line to break down. Since nothing could tow them they had to destroy them. As Otto said, and I paraphrase, "what was the German arms industry thinking, especially at that time in the war"?
Tiger II had 10+ tons and the same engine and transmission than Tiger I, a poor combination.
