Hi

I was reading the previous thread with regards to more scenarios. I have to agree that without more scenarios this whole upgrade thing wont work ...the alternative is to build in a campaign engines like in SPWAW that actually work and not knowing all the details of what goes into that but it sounds hard...

I am working on a project to bring more scenarios in to the game a large...very very very large LCG but these things take time and chances are this LCG project will be released in phases over a period of 2 years...I will be asking for help once I get a few more things sorted out and how I want to map this thing out..keeping a project of this scale workable is about keeping it simple..

Unfortunately I have to divide my time between a paid job, girlfriend, cat, etc and designing scenarios and LCGS..spending the weekdays up till 2am and than going to work gets a little tiring..However the first phase of the project will be released sometime this year..

I think this needs to be a Matrix solution to getting more scenarios designed and LCGS done and I really do believe that nothing in life comes for free..

I think CS will stay alive as long as the new development team stays with their current vision of constantly upgrading JTCS with new features and scenarios. So far that seems to be happening in a fairly timely manner.

Does your last sentence refer to monetary reimbursement for designing scenarios? My guess is that unless you set up your own paypal account with a 'voluntary contribution' request you will likely get a less than cordial reception. IMO the foundation of this hobby is built and maintained by the gallant few who contribute gratis their user-made features, scenarios and mods. Not that we wouldn't like to be paid, but I don't think anyone but the owners who do this for a living is making any money in this hobby, and it aint much.

For instance, I recently discovered the main cause of the WF DCG bugs that rendered most of them useless, and fixed a host of other DCG problems. Also I found a fix for the DCG medals bug and developed a new WF DCG and modified an existing one. There being no documentation on DCG's It took nearly 60 hours of my spare time (that's about $12,000 USD at my professional billing rate) to sift through all the data and make the fixes. All I ask is that the updated files get incorporated into the next patch for all to use.

If I charged Dave O'Conner at Panther games for my development time on the Airborne Assault series the bill would be well over $100K.

Osiris, your LCG project sounds great - I hope to see it come to fruition. CS and our hobby as a whole will need this kind of devotion just to stay alive.
HI

Your point is well taken..they probably dont make a lot of money on this particular brand given its for a very specific target group as opposed to say battlefield 2 which caters to a larger population..

As for the LCG plug away at I will..I have a pretty good idea of how the AI plays now in meeting engagements so hopefully it will speed up the process now..Meeting engagements are the toughest to design as opposed to set piece battles where the AI does actually quite well..

There will be a new LCG this year and a large one at that with a significant expansion capability built into it..now that I have figured out how to do it..

The only payoff we get is the pleasure of seeing the game improve before anyone else does Big Grin
