Hi All

All this talk about tournaments has gotten me into gear to finish the plans for my next Tournament.

So registration for the Europa Twilight Tournament starts as soon as I finish the site which will hopefully be this weekend.

But here are a few details about it.

having listened to the posts and studied the forums I have made a few changes and enhanced some aspects of it.

1. The Tournament will include a strategic element so players will have options on where they choose to fight to some degree:happy:.

2. The tournament will be in SPWW2, not H2H like the previous tournament, this is because no one raised any objections to it in previous posts so I decided to go with the new SP:cool2:.

3. the Tourney format will be similar to the previous tournament so if you played before you will have a good idea of what its like:chin:.

4. It will be Eastern Front only, western front will be a later tourney.

5. I have made a few option changes so that players will have the choice to take elites like the SS, or the Guards or even forces like the Italians if the so desire. Obviously if you take elites you might have to pay a small penalty and conversely if you take the Italians or whatever you get a small bonus. This is hopefully to encourage players to take more than just the same ol same ol Russian vrs German combinations:eek1:.

6. Terrain will play a big part in battles, some will be the open steppe, some will be in urban terrain, others may be in mud and bogs so like Pacific Twilight it wont all just be tanks tanks tanks, but with the new strategic element players will be able to have a choice on where they may fight so if your a tanker you will at least get a choice;).

So thats it.

the site will be announced when its up, but if you want to get your name down for some hell on the eastern front then feel free to post it up here.

cheers

Dan

Once your page is up send me the link so I can post it on the tournaments page.

Sounds interesting and will be much more user friendly in regards to turns and forces then H2H (you know how the dos versions kept changing the turns and not letting you buy some stuff).
Not letting you buy stuff is intentional, coded into game and actually very nice add to the game ... which SPWW2 lack :)

And H2H keeps turns just fine, I've had no trouble in years and I play a lot. Actually I have to agree that SPWW2 is more user friendly but game play sucks ... which does not stop me from taking part on any tourney :)

Disagree with you there buds; in a tournament you don't want one player getting short changed on buys when up against others. For example, in PT the computer limited me so much that I had basically no infantry and was forced to buy bunkers and tanks (game 1). Now, is that fair in a tournament when another player playing as USMC gets to buy companies of infantry?

As for turn keeper working fine, well you and I had several mirrored games where the turns were different and we had to sit there running down the turns. I can remember at least two games off the top of my head where we had to agree to end at turn 25 because the game gave us turns in the 40s.

These are the main reasons (the turns) that I don't play H2H anymore.

You can switch rarity off for tournaments and as you pointed out, it should be off when trying to achieve similar chances for each player.

Good memory, I couldn't remember those battles. I haven't played storm weather river crossing assaults in ages so that problem has not been an issue but that is true, the game sets the turns higher when it counts difficulties of terrain, weather and mission together.
Out of interest, how does your tournament work? It sounds very indepth. What are the rules with force selection for example?
