Matrix WF, Spanish Civil War...Anyone wanting to defend the Basque Country against my Fascist hordes--I have a move ready to [email protected]

Let me know how you find the thing plays for you. I made it as accurate as I could in units involved.
Asiaticus,

I'm playing your scenario now. Very well done and interesting scenario. I'll give you more feedback once we complete the game. I'm playing the Republican side but I enjoy seeing the blue shirted Falangists and the Carlists with their red covers and yellow flags.

Your scenario prompted me to do some research on the battle but so far the most I could find (in English) was the forum where you had a post explaining you were thinking of creating this one.
Here is a link to a minis wargamer who has a good site for TO&E and a few other things.

His AIW and WW2 stuff is worth going through too.
George- any scen of the Civil War in Spain will get my interest. I am currently playing Scott Cole, a tough opponent who has commented above. As I am playing blind I won't comment at this stage (12 moves) but it seems at this stage to be verrrry tough for the Republic
Paul,
Thanks for the link. It went straight to my favorites.

Rod,
It's a tough one for the Republican side all right but I highly recommend this scenario.
My troops are making the Falangists and even the Italians pay for every yard gained but I can't do much against the Carlists. Maybe they have a relic with them or something?
This scenario was fun to research. You might look into Spanish and Italian sources on this battle. Got some help from a guy in Spain who posted maps and photos he took on the battlefeild on the SCW section of the Axis History Forum. It is a tough one for the Republic which historically they lost, but you get what they had, when they had it, to stop the Nationalist advance, see if you can do better. It was probably the most decisive action by the Italian Volunteer Corps in the war, a breakthru and exploitation that cut off large numbers of troops, penetrated deep into the rear which with the rest of the general offensive eventually collapsed the front and ended the war in the North. Like the Brunete scenario it portrays an initial three day period of an offensive, and it features the only armour vs armour action in the northern campaign.

I put in some aircraft rules to limit the use of all the aircraft involved to a realistic sortie schedule.

I think the victory conditions could use some adjusting but I need some more play testing to determine that. Please let me know what you think.

Hope you enjoy it.
