Old hands will know this but its worthwhile posting this pic to illustrate how tanks can fire their main gun in one direction
while their bow MG is engaging infantry in another direction at the same time.
This is normal and realistic.

For me it seems tanks only fire the BMG at close targets. <300m or so.
