I lost my 3.51 patch (turret facing). I can't find it at Shrapnel. Does anyone have a copy they can send me?
Scratch that. I think the turret facing patch has been included in the 3.5 patch. Those Cammo boys don't let grass grow under their feet, do they?
Yes, it took them what, two days to fix the turret facing but they still haven't fixed .50 cal penetration.
Maybe it ain't broken?

This source and others (google it) give between 16 and 22 mm of penetration at 500 meters for various type of .50 bullets.
IIRC the SLAP round is twice that. When you consider spalling and the effect of multiple hits within the same basic area, I think the .50 is UNDER RATED in the game. Very few light vehicles have more then 25mm of armor.
When it comes to M-Kills, the 12.7 mm round has more then enough energy to break track and knock sprockets around. While the running gear on a tank is good steel, it isn't armor, so a .50 should be able to shoot thru bogies, sprockets, road wheels, track, etc, at under 10 hexes.
In SP terms, pen of 2 at 16 hexes for standard M2 AP round.
Like you said, it's broken alright so I rest my case.

I was reading on Shrapnel that they consider the 50 cal a long range anti-infantry weapon. Totally wrong there, it was designed as an anti-vehicle weapon, and in fact it is against the Geneva Convention to use 50cals on humans.
What is their explanation for useless auto cannons?
I've seen about a hundred .50 cal hits on light armor in the past weeks and the only one that did damage was top hit on an open topped vehicle so that doesn't count. Broken.
You have a solid fix for confusion, I use similar methods myself :)

WOW, Finally somebody else said it! Every time I went somewhere interesting my .50cal bullet tips were painted silver and silver/red (armor piercing incediary) Very nice...
