Guys ...

Sorry to sound like an idiot, but have recently got hold of a copy of TOAW III and have a few questions .. ...

The first being that when I play in 3D mode some of the graphics get a bit strange ... big blocks of black appearing on screen rather than the unit graphics its not all icons just some .... Any ideas on this problem ... ?

Secondly .... I tried to download the Matrix TOAW III latest update and I could not get the page to open at all ... I tried from the offical Matrix website link on a super highspeed connection .. but still nothing .. Any ideas ... ?

And finally ...... can units be broken down into smaller units like in HPS Sims games .. I mean if you have a regiment can you divide it into three battalions for example ....

Many thanks

Hey Spud

1) 3d Graphics - just dont! I never use them, you get more usable info in 2D mode I think. If you want to play in 3d best bet is probably to update your graphics card driver? If you continue to suffer then direct contact with Ralph Trickery or the Matrix MB is your best bet. Email Ralph on ralphtrickey at hotmail dot com, be patient he is a very busy boy

2)http://www.matrixgames.com/games/downloads.asp?gid=317
Click on the top link, you may have to right click "save target as"?

3)Yes, select unit, right click and near top of menu is "divide", choose 2 or 3 subunits when asked. Units can reccombine also through the right click menu when all sub units are in the same hex. Some units cannot be divided and the divide option will be grayed out.

Hope that helps, keep asking questions its the only way to learn!

Units that are broken down into 2 or 3 parts suffer from a loss of proficiency, but it's still useful to lengthen a line or complete a surround. Note that when you recombine them, two things are different from the HPS games: If you have three sub-units, you need all three to recombine; you can't combine just two of them. On the other hand, the combined unit gets the average of the proficiency/supply/readiness ratings of the components, not the lowest values. (I find that way more realistic.)
Many thanks for quick replies ......
