Hi all

Im almost finished doing the research and planing for My New Alternate History Tournament, the follow up to Pacific Twilight,...

Europa Twilight - Eastern Front.

But before I get the site up and start asking for players I want to ask anyone interested a few questions.

1. Which game engine would players prefer? Im leaning towards something like SPWW2 V 2.0 but I may still use H2H if there is a definite consensus, please let me know as I want to get an engine which as many players as possible will like to use, that and I need to make the maps and dont feel like making duplicates.

2. Would players prefer to have a linear structure as in the Pacific Twilight which means that a win takes you here, a loss there, a draw there and that only the attacking players will really get to benefit from

or

a more free flowing system in which players may decide to fight over a simple map of the Russian Front and where players have some choice in deciding to attack or defend in a more accurate simulation of the fighting on the russian front, decide which of the various warzones they would like to deploy into. This system would encourage more co-opeation as a system like this would have control of a varioys sector of the map given to the side with the most wins in it.

3. Use of special units like SS, Soviet Guard etc, mountain units, siberians, with some form of Bounus/penalty for use of such units if used in certain sectors of the maps or in certain types of battle or certain terrain types, basicly to give those fanatics of the SS, Guards a chance to play their favorites.

4. Some areas of the map will have certain terrain bounuses/limits on troops and vehicle types such as mountains, swamp, city etc, would players like to see this as it would add a strategic element to the map that those who like city fighting might aim for the urban zones while the Tankers head for the open steepes.

The only thing about the Tornamnet i can say for sure at the moment is that the first round will be fought in Stalingrad

Any please give me some feedback.
1. H2H, WW2 is slow to play and you need to have more turns which makes longer tournament which means more drop outs.

2. I liked Pacific. Of course more choices would be nice but try to keep it simple for yourself, no one benefits from exhaustion of the tournament master.

3. I'd say penalty for using special troops.

4. I can see one problem, every defender retreats to city and we see only city fighting.
I can probably make its so that holding only the cities has a penalty as the enmy cuts your supply lines or something like that.

Im aiming to avoid complexity, but a few bells and whistles to the rule might make it intresting and add some flavor, thanks for the comments.
