Gents,

Here we are. Doing this scenario was like trying to make a silk purse out of a sow's ear. I think I have done it. For those of you interested...enjoy...and only abuse me so much.

vis:

2 February 1942
Ambon Island, Moluccan Islands: On 30 January, 1942, the Japanese
landed on Ambon Island: The Kure 1st SNLF and attached army
troops on the north coast at Hitu-Iama and the 228/58 Infantry
Regiment on the southeast coast at Hutamori. Dutch LtColonel
J.R.L. Kapitz's "Molukken" garrison troops, assisted by the Australian
"Gull Force", could not prevent the landings. The "few" Dutch
detachments, in position to oppose the landings, were "quickly"
overwhelmed and the Japanese proceeded to advance toward Ambon
Bay where all of the militarily strategic objectives were located.
On the 31st of January, the Japanese northern force proceeded
south across the Hitu Peninsula and the Army regiment advanced
north along the eastern coast of the Laitimor Peninsula, both
forces aiming for the natural choke point at Paso. By the 1st
of February, after continuous retreating, the Allied force was
taking up positions to defend Ambon Bay with the Japanese hard
on their heels. A Japanese attack on Laha Airfield was repulsed
by the Australians but the Japanese had achieved a secure lodgement
at Paso and were passing reinforcements around toward the airfield.
On the 2nd the Japanese launched a "combined, concentrated attack", intent on destroying the Allied resistance. [3 days of fighting
has been condensed into this scenario. The situation begins
as deployed on the morning of 30 January.]

Cheers fellows,
Curt
