A useful tactic for getting the enemy you can't see is firing at them anyway. If the guy shooting at you is not in the LOS of your best HE gun/tank, line up the target line straight at them and shoot as close to him as you can. since some shots always fly off target there is a chance one of your strays will get 'em even if you can't directly target 'em. this tactic is most effective with green units. Veterns are too accurate and regs adjust their fire too quickly to hit the ordered target instead of the real "target". to counter accurate fire messing up your shooting, try shooting on the move. that always increases inaccuracy and thus increases "accuracy". Try it out and watch your opponent complain about lucky shots :kill:
Note: the tactic works best when you have a flat tragectory.
Also nice when done with mortars when you don't have a point target in mind. Vets or Crackers can be too good, and just hit the same spot over and over, Greenies can give you a decent spread pattern.
It works best when the spot you are wanting to hit is on a hill and the spot you can see in the crest of a different hill. But that doesnt happen very often.
This tactic is just about always worth a try if the enemy target is an open-top tank destroyer. M-10 or Marder or etc. Walkure knocked out THREE of my M-10's in one memorable game with an HE round from a shooter that didn't have LOS. Landed close enough to knock out one M-10, and the other two went down in chain-reaction style.
