Upon Huib's sage advice, I was encouraged to submit this scenario to H2H. It has been a long time in gestation. It is a "night" scenario for use in ME.
vis:
16 May, 1940
Signy-l'Abbaye, France: During the 15th of May, while the Germans
were breaking out of their Muese River bridgeheads and slicing
west into the rear of the French lines, the French 2nd Armored
Division was attempting to take up a blocking position. Moved
hither and yon from the 14th through the 15th, it was finally
ordered to take up a position at Signy-l'Abbaye. Unfortunately
the division was spread out along the rail lines and highways
and even the divisional commander, on the 15th, could not say
where all of his units were located. On the night of the 15th
the division was beginning to arrive in the area of Signy-l'Abbaye,
the tanks having to drive from the northwest at Hirson, and the
railroad. It was the fate of the French 2nd Armored Division
that German General Reinhardt's 6th Panzer Division was heading
for Signy-l'Abbaye too. After midnight, the Germans blundered
right into the middle of the French division. History goes on
to show how the French 1st Armored Division fought against the
German invading forces...this is what happened to the 2nd Armored
Division...and why it seemed to dissappear from the pages of
history.
