Hello All,
I would like to see transport aircraft that can land, unload their passengers and then leave again.
I assume it could work like helicopters do in DG.
I would like to see it for WF, EF and RS. You have added spotter planes.
Any chance it could be done?
It would make the Norway, Crete and Low Countries invasion scenarios so much better!

Well.... in the Low Countries none those planes ever took off again.

A walk in the park - a statement that many foreigners - even many native Dutch citizens attach to the five days' war in May 1940. It may be so, but at a considerable German costs of over 350 airplanes [more than 10% of their fleet in those days] was lost beyond recovery, at least 2.000-2.500 men killed in action and 1.250 men [mainly air borne troops and pilots] being captured and shipped to British prisoner-of-war camps. This resulted in a devastated air borne weapon due to the sever losses in men and loss of over 50% of their transport fleet. Material losses that would contribute to altering important details of the invasion plans of Great Britain, for air borne and air landings in Northern Ireland and England were no longer feasible at large scale due to the suffered losses.

It seems to me that if CS included eg Erik's idea of transport aircraft landing and taking off, unloading etc, it is only a small step to having a two dimensional air battle whereby close support aircraft could be engaged by both AA fire and enemy fighters. This possibility would develop because each aircraft type would need to have an attack and defence value. The arguments about the relative values of say a FW190 and a P47 would be almost endless, but no doubt a result would emerge. Aircraft once deployed would stay on the screen thus being able to achieve an unrealistic sortie level.
My own view is that we dont need to go this way. Air involvement as is seems quite adequate.
