hello all

About 48 hours ago my computer was hit by a nasty little trojan/virus called VUNDO. It sent me to different sites advertising computer virus protection or selling computer software downloads. It originally came out a few years ago, but is still out there. It adds itself to your start up program, and is difficult to remove.

I have Norton & keep it updated. I think I got it when my daughter clicked on a link at a music video site.

NO, I did not get it from one of my porn sites.;)

Anyway, I tried to follow the directions to remove it, but had no luck. I tried to communicate w/ Norton, but got nowhere.

I finally called Dell and the customer service guy in India fixed it!:)

I am about 2 days behind in my turns so please be patient.

Jack

I also use Spy Bot Search and Destroy + Spyware Blaster + Advertising Killer (for pop ups + Google tool bar pop up blocker). These are all free programs, and do a great job in blocking spy ware and pop ups. Some of that redirection crap is do to spyware on your pc. If anyone is interested in these programs, email me and I'll try to help you get them. Just be careful to fully read the instructions, as you can screw things up. The default settings are safe enough for most people.
I also use Ad-Aware SE. It removes the cookie/spyware. It is free & I run it several times a day. It identifies many of the spyware. I think it is a lavasoft product.

Could you direct me to the Spybot? I have heard that sometimes having two is better than one.

[email protected] or just post on MB here.

I have to go do yard work. Thank you very much for this info keif149.

Hey BD!
I had it also, and found this fix. Also I am emailing you the set up file for Spy Bot Search And Destroy. I got a reprieve from yard work this week because of rain! lol
Good luck!

My weed whacker died. Not a good time to go kaput.
