Hello Alpha,

Smoke in WAW takes a long time to dissapate.. usually it never does. And the other thing that WAW causes is a Star Trek style deflector screen.. only thing that can shoot thru smoke is indirect artillery, and Panther Uhu's (they have early form of IR vision device). Otherwise smoke is impenetrable...

In the CAMO games, smoke blocks LOS for 2-4 turns before it's no longer effective. But the biggest plus is that you can 'z' fire thru smoke, so nobody can use smoke screens as safe havens to plot ambushes or regroup without fear of incoming fire.

One thing about the OP fire routines in WAW, is that when the oposition reaches the 2 hex window for point blank fire, OP firing units start getting a rate of fire bonus.. I've seen the dancing Stug (or any other tank for that matter take shots at anything that triggers the 2-hex window and the only limit to shooting seems to be when they run out of ammo.. (not really, but far too many OP-fire shots available).

Previously in MBT/WW2 your opponent could soak off all the OP fire shots pretty quickly with a parade of armed jeeps, or cheap armored cars.. now you can set a filter so that tanks won't fire at unworthy targets.. you can set also point blank range where anything that gets too close will get shot at,.. and some other options.. I don't have the CD yet so I can't use the filters, but I can see the utility of having the ability..

Not sure how long it's been since you played the CAMO games, but if it's been a couple of years, you might be pleasantly suprised at the improvements.. you just have to get used to how the games want to operate again, because you can't play the CAMO games the same as WAW.. you'll get hammered until the adjustment can be made..
