The additional (horizontal) angle adds more effective armor protection, as well as some increased chance for a bounced shot. So if possible, approach the enemy not at a clean 12 o clock angle, but rather at a more advantageous 11 or 1 o clock. If you´ve to maintain a particular attack direction, zig zagging does the trick.
