Need some help! I had my son build me a new computer with Windows XP for the operating system. I'm having all kinds of problems trying to play my turns. The sound effects play over and over like they are in a loop. When I end my turn, it plays my turn back and then the screen turns green and the computer has to be restarted to get the screen back to normal. I also can't remember how to set up the game to get all the units in a hex to show up in the stack. Can you help me out?

I had the same problem with XP until I turned off the sound accelerator
on my Soundblaster card.....

Try it....it should solve your problem.....

You can always try turning the sound effects off and listening to your favourite cd's instead..Much better to watch your units die to "Enter Sandman" than all those pesky sound effects

I have a few ideas that worked for me:

- Start your game from the .exe file (or short cut if you created that) and not from your computer's "Auto Run" when you insert the EFII CD.
- If you still get the sound loop then "right click" on the .exe file and a menu will open. Choose the "Properties" and then "Compatibility" tab then choose run as Win 98 option.
- Still problems then "Right Click" the .exe file and choose "Run As" option and choose the "The following user" option and play as the default "Administrator". For some reason Win XP has a problem running old programs as a Power User or any other User less than the default Administrator. It actually states that somewhere under the Help File that some programs will not run and/or install properly unless logged in as an Administrator.

As for the screen turning green try changing your colors to 16bit because some "display cards" do not run well with EFII setup as 24bit or 32bit.

When you want to view a stack of troops in the same hex use the "U" short cut key on your keyboard.

I hope this helps?
Thanks for the help guys! I will give these ideas a try and let you know what happens.
Still no go on the sound looping on East Front. I changed the compatibility mode to windows 95 and adjusted my sound accelerator to as slow as it will go. It plays but the sound drives me crazy. Can't get West Front to play at all. I start my turn and it shows some report boxes and then says windows has to shut down. No map or anything. Maybe a uninstall and reinstall on West Front????
I had that problem and reinstalled and it worked.
I uninstalled my Europe in Flames and re-installing now. Can someone tell me which patches I need to install. Want to get everything right from the start this time.
No patches are required for Europe in Flames.

That is unless you just purchased it in the last few years? If you did then you'll be as surprised as I was to find out it's not the right version.

The disc says Europe in Flames but the game is actually an older version East Front. I actually had to patch my EIF game to version 1.02.

When you install choose the "Custom" install option and then select everything you can.

The sound loop is a big nuisance because it seems some people have problems and others don't. There are a lot of opinions on solutions out there and you just need to fins one that works for you. Some people say after installation start up and play a campaign game before any other scenario can solve some sound issues. You don't need to complete the campaign, just play 1 or 2 turns and then leave it, don't delete it. Not sure if it will help but it's worth a try?

I hope this helps?
Thanks RedDog! Nothing has helped. After uninstalling and reinstalling, I can't even start a game now. Keep getting an error window saying can't run exe. file, sending a report to Microsoft. About ready to give up gaming. These are the only games I play.
