The last few patches have referred to replacements. Something new will doubtless appear but (if its possible) could we have an idea as to any existing game/scenarios where the replacement rule might be a good idea so that if we get bored before the next release we could have a go at scenario editting?
I am familiar with the replacement feature so let me explain before the editting begins.

Basically, it is something that can be specified in the OOB when you edit an organization (not a single unit). You have the ability to give an integer which becomes a % strength that a unit will replace in a given turn. This is in addition to strength gained through recovery. Replacements are different in the fact that the rate can be different for each unit and unit quality plays no factor like it does with recovery. Also, for sub-units, any replacement rate given to a unit that is lower in the OOB will override any level given to a higher organization.

For example, if you give a 2% replacement rate for 1st Corps, and then give one of the divisions a 1% replacement rate then only the corps units, and any other divisions will get 2%. This can of course be more finely implemented at brigade level organizations as well.

A unit will also not get replacements if it is isolated, but not simply isolated in the sense that it cannot trace a line to a supply source but, more severly, if it is truely isolated from the map edge.

That said, the rule itself is not perfect, but then again what rule is? For example, you cannot apply a replacement rate to a single unit and in some cases this can be a problem if you have a loosely organized unit. The solution is to organize it more strictly to better seperate the units into different organizations.

I don't think that replacements would apply to many PzCs, it is just there for special cases where a single organization might, or should, regain a lot of strength. And dispite popular belief it shoudl probably not be used at all with soviet units in east front titles because, as I mentioned in another thread, they often did not replace losses at a high rate but instead they would create new units.

Where it might apply is for North Afrika titles where the German panzers are given a replacement rate to compliment a low recovery rate so that their panzers can recover/replace losses at a historical rate since they have outstanding recovery teams. Or, I was thinking about applying it to the Tobruk'41_Alt's 88mm FLAK units because they are in 2 gun batteries and almost always get a 1 gun loss from any enemy action. But keep in mind that all PzCs thus far have been balanced to utilize the recovery rate feature only so any editing to add a replacement rate should probably go hand in hand with an adjustment to the recovery rate.

Good Idea for this would be 6th panzer division in M41.
They used old Pz35(t) tanks that were not in a production for a long time. So spare parts could not be obtained and panzer recovery rate was much lower than in other divisions.
This can be also applied to units with captured equipment etc.

Ok sounds that a good use might be Normandy so that eg British tank replacements of Shermans might be very high but others less high. IIRC there were more Shermans than would fit in a unit at some points.
Sounds good I would like to try a camp game with those modifiers. Those changes plus the fatigue changes for morale values should help the Germans defend against the British. IF you are looking at that camp can you look at Allied Bridge units I am sure (but I have no real evidence) that UK Divs should have bridge units and probably US as well?
