Funny about that picture is the 2nd rank in the troops are not shouldering rifles but carrying something else on their back as seen by their right hand holding a strap.

what do you suspect they are carying? the MG 34s? the Mortars?

Well spotted - I have no idea... I do know the picture was taken in Poland not long after she fell.

It's an MG 34....you can see the barrel of one poking over the shoulder of the guy a few ranks back.
