Take a look at this guys - a capture T-34, in German service lost and recovered from the mud.

...at least it looks like a T-34 to me - 5 large boggie wheels, wide track and the MG and drivers hatch looks like it to me.

Interesting eh.

Thanks both of you, glad you shared it.

I blew up a marking I saw on the side of the turret in one of the pictures. Can anyone identify the "G" shaped marking in white above the numbers 2323?

Is that a divisional symbol? I am not familiar with it.

It looks like a number... 6
Looks like a "6" to me also...Kind of russian style.Perhaps part of the origional Russian markings ? Picture 13 seems to be possibly russian style markings...
It's on youtube too...

I remember seeing this video (more complete) before somewhere else but can't find it...
Not sure, but from other turret photos it looks like to me that the original (Russian?) writing has been painted over. Maybe from its years buried in the mud some of the writing is starting to show through. I looked through my resources & could find no German marking that looked like the one on the turret. I know Russian & the symbol isn't recognizable to me. The tank was found in Estonia so it could have had Estonian writing on it. Just a theory. :conf:
Six or a "G", it was the "tail" at the bottom of the character that made it seem familiar. I just can not remember where I have seen that symbol before.

In the other turret shots there is some Russian writing, but it was to too blurry to get a good look at. Maybe some one else with good digital photo skills can clean it up so it is readable?
