Simple question: two of my opponents have ceased to reply my emails (for over a month), I have had a game going with them for some time. Now, is there an unwritten rule of what to do if an opponent goes MIA and will not answer if asked whether they will continue the game or not? Anybody have similar experiences?...

I know at times I have not been very quick in my replies, but I never just disappear/ignore my opponent.
Hey PZ

Usually a month is ample enough time for anyone to respond. Good thing to usually post a warning here on the message board and give them 1 more week as maybe someone here may know where they went. If not some people claim an overwhelming victory. I personally do not like that rule so I always will claim a draw as I cant 100% say why they left. (Health? Death in family etc) which always take precedence over this game and any gaming.

Hello PzHeinz,

According to the club rules, if 3 weeks pass with no response to your efforts to contact, post a message on the blitz. Tell your opponents that if you don't hear from them, the game will be forfeit. If they still don't respond in a 'reasonable' time (I think a week is plenty of time) then you are free to claim any level of victory that you wish.

When both my PC's went bang a few months back i used a friends PC to send an email to all my opponents and told them to claim a TC, but not everyone has another means of connecting to the internet so i usually keep old unfinished games in a folder just in case they should come back.
But i don't think there's anything wrong with claiming a victory, especially if you spent a lot of time on the game and feel cheated out of the win by someone who just lost interest in the game.

cheers
I went thru one of those in November, only from the other side. I got jammed sidewys in ones of life's many little cracks. After oozing out the other side, I think after the years end, I will be back to my post-hoin, lead slinging, smoke laying ways. Now All I need to do is find someone willing to play after my Faux-pau. Fox paws? Is that right?

I'll give you a game if you wants one still.

Ok, when I get back from the Redneck Riveria. I put up a couple when their house got flattened by Katrina. They moved back into their new house a couple of weeks ago and Invited me down for a few days. It's warmer in Mobile then it is here, so I am leaving out as soon as my ride shows up. I'll be back Sunday or early monday to do New years here. So I'll contsct you then and we'll work something out.
Hello Grumbler,

I still have the files forour interrupted games - team and 1-1.. I can go into the datbase and delete the report for our 1-1 if you wish to continue.. not sure what you want to do about the team game..

I usually report the game after reasonable wait as it looked like it would have ended. If the oppo returns you can always delete the report and continue playing.
