Guys ...

Having just got Korean War mod installed and up and running ... I have a question about map creation ....

I was wondering how to up-grade maps to higher military levels .. ?

For example .. if I have a map designed for Regimental level game play ... is there some coding I can alter to up-grade it to Division or Corps level game play .. or doesn't it matter .. and can I play any level on any map .. ?

I understand you can make it day and night by changing some simple coding in the map file, but can you up-game play levels in the same way ... ?

And while we're on the issue of maps .. can "temperate condition" maps from Rising Sun be placed in Korean War file and used .. or.. as I suspect is there some coding problem ... ?

Cheers

I don't know what you mean by upgrading to higher levels. Map files are totally independent. One thing that is not possible anywhere in CS is making 1 larger map from 2 or more separate maps.

I'm also engaged atm in making a Korean War map Wonju-Hongsoeng-Honch'on region. I use temperate "climate" so it is already there. Not all the terrain is accessable with the tool bar so some things like brush and rice fields have to be selected using 'terrain' in the menu.

Hope this helps

I know generated maps suck, but I made a huge one to have a fictitious large battle on, to try out all the units. Since the Divided Ground map generater can't generate anything but Mediterranean and desert, here's how you do it. Go to the main menu, pick edit map, then from the pulldown menu pick mediterranean, pick size, options from the generator screen which follows, then make map, save as whatever. Next open the saved map file in wordpad, go to the third line-

The third line will contain a different set of letters than above, the line I have is what you copy and replace the line that exists there for your saved map. Save the file, then reopen it in the DGmap program, now all the terrain for temperate is available from TERRAIN option next to FILE!! Just a hint if you just want to generate something for a quick made battle or something.
