I see that some tanks in SPWaW come with smoke dischargers, i know how to fire smoke using direct fire but how do you use dischargers? Is there a hotkey or order that i haven't seen or is it left to the AI of that tanks commander when to use it.

cheers
The "D" activates your smoke dischargers. It will usually put 3 blobs in front of where your unit is facing or if a tank, where the turret is facing.

Thanks for that, you may have just saved my PZIII's bacon. ;)

rain vanishes smoke? cant believe it, thats simulated here.
Hello Kpt Lothar,

Yep -rain makes smoke go away after a few turns.. most of the time smoke in WAW is a Star Trek style deflector screen.. impervious to everything except artillery barrages.. and once on the map, it stays on the map..

One of the cool things in MBT and WW2 is how smoke and fire work..

Smoke rarely lasts longer than about 4 turns - most of the time 2-3 turns. Artillery never comes with more than 10-12 smoke shots, usually less than 10 - so smoke supply is limited

using smoke requires using a 'shot'.. so if your tank/squad has no shots left, they can't use smoke.

In all WAW variants shooting smoke is a freebie.. you can shoot as much as you like (until there is no more), even though the firing unit has used all of it's shots up. Most players don't approve when smoke in WAW is abused.

In WW2 & MBT you can use the 'z' key to area fire thru a smoke screen and suppress troops on the other side. - it's not real accurate, and if your own troops are nearby there is risk of hitting them. But it helps slow an oncoming horde..

Troops in a hex that is on fire will take supression. If they are unable to move out of the hex, they will start taking casualties - until they are KIA.. so don't stop unless you are providing a BBQ for your opponent. :)
