Just wondering what the break down is for all the different versions of Steel Panthers. Vote on which version you play the most of.
I fixed the poll so you can see who voted for what. Poor old Alby is playing with himself. Eek
funny I have 3 Enhanced games going with members here.

Final version of Enhanced coming out Sept 1
for anyone who gives a crap, about 70 fixes/changes so far
plus about 200 edited or added Enclyclopedia files and LBMs
and more Icon/Grpahic additions...

But alas I fear most here will never move past H2H for whatever reason.
Quite a shame

I'm playing your enhanced version alby, and it rocks.......I just have played so much H2H I had to vote for it. I think all the work you put into the enhanced version is worth it in the graphics alone. It does take a little getting used to the subtle differences.........

I haven't given it a chance yet. I have played 4 games of winww2 to date (2 still ongoing). At first I was very frustrated with it, but then yesterday I tried to set up a game of H2H and had to fight with the turns changing from what they were set at, air missions disappearing, and having to create a scenario to edit the flag objectives. I think that pushed me over the edge to going permanetly to winSPWW2.

If I remember correctly WAW Enhanced has the above problems too doesn't it since H2H and WAW are basically the same core engine?

Also, the poll doesn't mean don't play, I asked what you play the most of. I play mostly MBT, but out of 10 games 6 will be MBT and 4 will be WW2, so not a big difference.

There are a lot of things from WAW/H2H that I would like to see in winSPWW2, especially the sounds and the better graphics. The big bonus of winSPWW2 is as I stated above, plus the hills can be much higher.
dont know about air missions disappearing??
to change objective flags, you simply go into the editor and load the map
you wish to edit, no need to actually create a scenario.

The game turn thing, I have seen this, if you choose number of turns as the last 'preference' you set, then it sticks, IIRC

I know none of that works in H2H, that is for sure. I have tried setting turns in all different manner and it always changes. Very frustrating.

As for the air missions the game will change the weather on you or something and delete your air missions.
Hello Weasel,

Air missions in H2H/WAW is largely predicated on visibility.. if the visibility is less than 30, the AI often decides that conditions are too poor to allow aircraft.. and you often have to have air missions to buy para-transports.

I've seen games (especially when I was running the Red Dawn tourney a couple of years ago) where you can set all the weather/visibility/time of day parameters all the same, and players end up in rain, early morning, and a visibility of 45 and no air. The next player set using the same parameters will have clear weather, late morning, and the airdales are more than happy to participate.

I know that when I joined the blitz 3 years ago, most of my experience was against the AI in WAW - and I didn't appreciate SPww2 very much. In my opinion, I think that Matrix really tailored WAW to play against the AI. Panzer Leo really helped things when he created H2H, and SP CAMO tailored ww2/mbt for PBEM play..

Not too long ago, I had a big wish list of changes to see in WW2/MBT.. and doggone if SPCAMO didn't fix/improve nearly all my gripes..

While WAW was a huge step above the original SP-3, Matrix didn't have access to the code (and still doesn't I think) so it really has limited their ablility to make programing changes other than graphics, OOB's etc. OOB's can tweak things, but not in the same way as programming changes can. Other than Alby's and Panzer Leo's efforts, there has been little support for improving WAW.

Alby - I'm looking fwds to your next 'enhanced' release.. so please don't feel that all your fine efforts are wasted.. Big Grin

So.. now that I have a number of games under my belt for ww2/MBT/WAW - I find that while I enjoy H2H, my preferences have turned to MBT and WW2..

Matrix does have and has always had access to the code, thats how SPWAW was created.
SPWAW uses the SP 3 code, where as WW2 and MBT use the SP 2 code.
programming changes have been done as recently as version 8.403 of SPWAW.
In fact the Main programmer for SPWAW, was a consultant on the SPWAW Enhanced Project.
:)
I didn't know there was game coding changes done. Perhaps I will have to give Enhanced a kick at the can afterall.
